In a proactive and inclusive gesture ahead of the official observance, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Central Internal Audit, Dr. Oyeyemi Ayoola, marked the upcoming 2025 International Day of Persons Living with Disabilities (IDPD) by launching a significant scholarship program. The initiative aims to alleviate financial hurdles for members of the physically challenged community by offering educational scholarships spanning from primary school right through to the university level, guaranteeing them access to continuous learning.

The presentation ceremony was a deeply moving affair, held at the Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA Secretariat Hall in Ilupeju, Mushin. The event was not merely a handover of documents but a strong communal gathering, witnessed by members of the physically challenged community, stakeholders, and supportive advocates. The public setting underscored the government's intention to make the act of inclusion and empowerment a highly visible and celebrated priority, moving beyond mere rhetoric to tangible action.

Dr. Ayoola, while celebrating the global observance with the beneficiaries, delivered a powerful message of admiration for their fortitude. She specifically praised their resilience, strength, and unwavering determination to be meaningful contributors to society, despite the physical limitations they face. Her address passionately reaffirmed her conviction that disability should never be a barrier to accessing opportunities, aligning her personal belief with the state's broader agenda of inclusive governance.

In her commitment pledge during the ceremony, the Governor's Aide articulated the strategic thinking behind the financial intervention. She emphasized that the scholarship initiative is a clear reflection of her vision for a more inclusive society, where every citizen is valued and given a fair chance to thrive. Dr. Ayoola asserted that investing in the education of physically challenged children is arguably one of the most effective and powerful methods of empowering them, thus ensuring their full and active participation in the critical process of nation-building.

The impact of the scholarships was immediately evident in the beneficiaries’ reactions. Both the physically challenged individuals and their families conveyed profound gratitude, hailing the initiative as a "life-changing intervention." They acknowledged that the program would substantially ease financial burdens associated with education and, more importantly, open doors to brighter futures that might otherwise have been closed due to economic constraints, underscoring the deep social value of targeted public interventions.
