Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, officially inaugurated Hon. Abdul-Ganiyu Obasa as the Executive Chairman of Agege Local Government during a ceremony held at the State House. Hon. Obasa, who previously served in an acting capacity, takes over the substantive role following the resignation of the former chairman, Tunde Azeez, who stepped down due to health challenges. The Governor noted that the transition ensures continuity in the local government's administration and service delivery.

In a dual ceremony, the Governor also swore in Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa as the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Office of Transformation, Creativity, and Innovation (OTCI). Mrs. Anjous-Ademuyiwa’s appointment is expected to bolster the state's drive for modernization and efficiency within the civil service. Sanwo-Olu emphasized that these appointments were based on a rigorous assessment of capability, dependability, and a proven track record of professional excellence.

Addressing the new appointees, Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed that public office in Lagos remains strictly a platform for service rather than personal gain. He noted that leadership at both the political and civil service levels must reflect the will of the people and produce tangible results. According to the Governor, the high standards of Lagosians require leaders who prioritize the collective needs of the residents above all else.

The Governor issued a stern reminder regarding the weight of responsibility that comes with their new offices. He stated that the residents of Lagos expect nothing less than hard work, integrity, and visible impact. Sanwo-Olu warned that any performance falling below these expectations would be deemed unacceptable, as the administration remains committed to a culture of accountability.

The Governor reaffirmed that merit and dedication remain the core pillars of his administration. He encouraged all public servants and political leaders to strive for excellence, promising that hard work would always be recognized and rewarded in Lagos State. He urged the new officials to hit the ground running to justify the trust reposed in them.
