Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu addressed the 19th Annual Town Hall Meeting of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), emphasising that security is a shared responsibility that drives the state's progress and economy. He highlighted that government efforts must be complemented by the private sector, communities, and every resident. This collaboration, channeled through the Trust Fund, has been pivotal in delivering real impact, including improved patrol capacity, surveillance tools, and strengthened cybersecurity infrastructure. The Fund acts as a vital nexus, uniting government, businesses, and citizens toward a common goal of a safer Lagos.

Mr Governor pointed to tangible successes resulting from these strategic investments. He proudly noted that Lagos State has recorded no bank robberies for four years, alongside successful interventions that have stopped home invasions, led to arrests, and recovered illegal weapons. Furthermore, the administration has deepened inter-agency collaboration and significantly strengthened community intelligence networks through the Neighbourhood Safety Corps. These local and state-level successes are framed as complementing the national security reforms championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reinforcing the commitment to modernising security institutions across the board.

Looking forward, Governor Sanwo-Olu outlined a clear strategy for the future, centered on expanding the use of technology, improving coordination among security agencies, and maintaining absolute transparency in the use of public funds. A key focus remains on preparing the state to effectively anticipate and respond to emerging threats, ensuring the security infrastructure remains resilient and ahead of the curve. This proactive stance is designed to protect the economic gains and the quality of life enjoyed by Lagosians, which are fundamentally linked to the state's safety profile.

The Governor concluded his address with an urgent call to action for all stakeholders in Lagos. He specifically appealed to businesses, community leaders, civil society groups, and every single Lagosian to remain highly engaged and vigilant. The message was clear: continuous collective participation and oversight are non-negotiable for sustaining the current security achievements. The safety of the populace is positioned as the absolute foundation upon which the state's prosperity is built.

The event underscored the administration's unwavering commitment to building a Lagos that is not only secure but also confident and full of opportunity for all its residents and potential investors. The Lagos State Security Trust Fund continues to stand as a unique and effective model of public-private partnership in the security sector, proving that shared ownership leads to shared success in safeguarding a major metropolitan centre.
