In 2022, he publicly shared his lifelong battle with sickle cell disease, revealing that the experience inspired his hit song "5 Star." Through the Adekunle Gold Foundation, he continues to promote awareness, encourage conversations around the condition and support affected communities. In 2025, New York University announced a collaboration with him focused on sickle cell disease and mental health awareness.

His personal life has also captured public admiration. Adekunle Gold married fellow Nigerian singer Simi in 2019 after several years of dating, and together they have become one of Nigeria's most celebrated celebrity couples. They welcomed their daughter, Deja, in 2020.
